Glen Canyon- Twin Peaks- Mission Bay Hike- 8 miles, 1,250 ft elevation

We will be doing a moderately strenuous one-way urban hike in San Francisco starting at the Glen Park BART Station and ending at Spark Social in Mission Bay for food and drinks. This hike is for INTERMEDIATE HIKERS only. The route will offer magnificent views of the city as we wind through Glen Canyon Park, Twin Peaks, Kite Hill, the Mission, Potrero Hill, and Mission Bay. The 8 mile trek will involve ascending 1,250 feet via several challenging hills and staircases.

THIS EVENT HAS A WAITLIST. DO NOT SHOW UP FOR IT UNLESS YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING YOU CAN ATTEND. NO PLUS ONES ARE PERMITTED ON THIS HIKE.

We meet at 10:00 am outside Glen Park BART Station and depart promptly at 10:15 am. We begin the trek by heading north through Glen Canyon Park followed by ascending Twin Peaks (915’) via the Twin Peaks Ridge Trail. We continue north to climb Tank Hill (591’) and then east to ascend Kite Hill (361'). Continuing east, we make our way up and over Dolores Heights (394') to Mission Dolores Park, where we take a short restroom/food break. We continue east through the Mission and then up Potrero Hill (308’). Finally, we head into Mission Bay to arrive at our destination, Spark Social.

Bring plenty of water and lunch/snacks. A tarp to sit on may also come in handy for our lunch stop in the park.

Directions

The meeting spot is outside the Glen Canyon BART Station, at Diamond and Bosworth Streets.

From Spark Social to BART: you could either take the 22 Bus from 18th and Minnesota Streets (3 blocks south of Spark Social) to the 16th Street BART Station, or take the T Bus from 3rd Street and Mission Rock (2 blocks northwest of Spark Social) to the Powell Street BART Station.
